StudentNest Inc. is looking to hire Mentor(s) in the San Francisco area.

  • Schedule: Weekdays and/or weekends
    • afternoon and evening
    • 10-20 hours per week
  • Rate of Pay: $22.00-27.00 based on experience

Summary:

Youth/Young Adult Mentors act as supportive guides for young people (typically ages for youth, 13-16 and for young adults, 17-24) as they transition into adulthood. Mentors build trusting relationships with their mentees, offering encouragement, guidance, and a safe space to explore dreams and navigate challenges. Through mentorship, young adults gain the confidence and skills they need to succeed in college, career, and personal life.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a positive and trusting relationship with your assigned youth/young adult mentee
  • Be a supportive role model and source of encouragement
  • Assist your mentee in identifying and achieving personal and professional goals
  • Help your mentee develop important life skills, such as communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and financial literacy
  • Offer guidance on navigating college applications, career exploration, or independent living (as needed)
  • Participate in fun and engaging activities that align with your mentee's interests
  • Maintain open communication with program staff and mentee's guardians (when applicable)
  • Attend mentor training workshops (as required)

Qualifications:

  • Passion for working with youth/young adults
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with young people
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by youth/young adults
  • Experience in a relevant field (e.g., education, career counseling) (preferred)
  • Commitment to confidentiality
  • Reliable transportation (may be required)
